“How different life has been since I washed salts and sugars out of my taste palette. I cannot emphasize this enough as to how transformational this was. It is like I had forgotten what food really tastes like and was blessed to rediscover that.
The first time I finished a meal and had a completely different feeling / state of being. There was an absence of a typical gastronomical sense about the meal. I was not full, bloated, gassy, fulfilled, pleased, or even satisfied. But yet I felt great. Then it hit me. I felt great because I felt re-energized. Chris Johnson changed my life REALLY!
But I was a skeptic at first.
I met Chris Johnson at a Merrill Lynch wellness conference nearly three years ago. To be honest, the stuff he was talking about all the weird foods, supplements, and movements made no sense to me.
But the timing was right for me to make a change. I had just been diagnosed with pre-diabetes and my life was in transition anyway. I figured Merrill Lynch did not want to kill me, so I said what the heck, I¹ll give this a try.
And I jumped in with both feet.
I bought: Chris and Bonnie’s cookbook, Chris’ workout tapes, an OTL starter kit, and a gigantic case of wheatgrass ice cubes, Cod Liver Oil, spirilulina and chlorella, flax, and started eating from the center of the circle.
Within a few weeks I had dropped so much weight and retoned my body, that I had to visit my tailor to redo a few of my suits.
I was beginning to feel better and have more energy. Chris and I worked on a plan to help me address the diabetes. And I also worked with my doctor on my blood work. He was amazed when he saw all my numbers dramatically improve at my appointment 6 months later. While the OTL program did not improve my golf game, I felt far more energy on the course, whereas before, I would start running out of gas around hole 13 or 14.
For me the importance of the On Target Living program is the framework. OTL gives me reference points for nutrition and exercise. I now understand the concept of getting food from the source and that on labels less is better. Perhaps the most liberating concept for me is that OTL is not a diet program, it is more of a way of life. The 80/20 concept allows me to plot out my meals and not feel guilty when I splurge 3 or 4 times a week on a meal that is not ‘OTL approved.’
Finally, OTL has given me strength and confidence to take on new physical challenges. Being the owner of a bad back, I have never ran competitively. Well, last spring, I competed in three 5k races and took 7 minutes off my time from race to race. My goal is to run in 24 minutes, a concept unknown to me three years ago.
